Overview

By the end of this article you will be able to import a written design summary, outline or description into Coursensu. The co-pilot smart importer will transform any outline into design items with a title, description and suggested active learning method. You can also perform quick fixes in bulk (when needed) when converting an outline into design items.

Smart import is a powerful tool to transform your ideas, existing designs or outlines in a design format. It's also useful when you're seeking inspiration for your designs and want to import more ideas with co-pilot assistance.

Terminology

  • Co-pilot - this is your helpful AI-powered assistant on Coursensu. It works with you to provide suggestions when transforming your design ideas into active learning experiences.
  • Smart import - converts a summary, outline, description or other form of text into design content items

Start the import process - from an existing design

Tip: Skip to the next section if you want to create a new design to import into.

Step: Navigate to a design you want to import content into and select the Import icon from the toolbar.

Note: This design is blank, it has no content items or sections.

Outcome: You're done - ready to import. Skip the next section if you are importing to an existing design.

Start the import process - from a new design

Step: Select 'START HERE' from My designs area of coursensu and select Import content from the 'How do you want to start?' popup.

Step: Give your design a name and then select 'Start importing!'

Step: In the text editor, describe your design outline.

Tip: Add as much as you like to describe the learning experience. This can include the topic, activity ideas, what you expect the learner to achieve or demonstrate.Step: Select a number of content items for co-pilot to aim for

Tip: This number is currently limited and can increase in the future. To get more - you can repeat the whole import process. In testing we went higher but results became less reliable.

Step: Select Preview as design items to check items before they are added to your design

Note: There may be some gaps, these can be fixed here or in the designer.

Step: Select items and scroll down to Bulk change items if you want to make any changes before import

Import your designThis final step will bring your import preview content into your design - the goal!

Step: When you're ready, select Import all items to finish the smart import process

Tip: You must wait for this process to finish, even if it takes 30+ seconds, it's working in the background adding each design item.

Step: Select FINISHED - Start designing once the importer has completed its task. This will take you to the designer, with your imported items.
