Overview

This article shows how you can use the Coursensu AI co-pilot to quickly and easily generate and refine your learning content. You can use the built-in AI as a powerful tool to add new learning content or to make suggestions based on a selection of existing content. AI can generate rich text, HTML or images or you can select existing text and it can then suggest changes, such as tone, language, style, and more - all directly within the content editor.

What are the benefits of learning design and content development with an AI co-pilot?

Use the AI co-pilot to accelerate your content creation and enhance the instructional quality. You can generate new material, view suggested improvements, and ensure alignment with learning objectives. All AI content is 'context aware' so it can be placed into your existing course structure.

Co-pilot helps you overcome creative blocks, revise text, and adapt your content to different styles or tones. The aim is to free up your time to focus on learning strategy, learner engagement, and content quality.

Ready? Let's add some AI productivity into your learning content ⚡️

Generating text content with AI co-pilot directly into a learning design

Start: Navigate to one of your designs and select a Content Item

Note: For this guide we will use either the Storyboard or In-line content editor - they work in the same way.

Step: Open the content editor for any item in your learning design (in this example we're using the Storyboard view)

The AI co-pilot content tools can be found in the content editor for any content item

Step: select the Insert menu to view the AI Co-pilot content tools and select an option from the Co-pilot written content sub-menu

Opening the Inset menu
Selecting a 'Short form article' from the shared Coursensu selection of co-pilot content generators. (You can add your own - see later in this guide).

Step: Wait for the co-pilot to generate the content - then review what has been suggested to include.

Co-pilot will take a few seconds to generate the content from your prompt

Step: If you wish to accept the text, select Add it. If not, you can cancel the task (the new content will be discarded).

A suggestion is returned - it will be in rich text and minimal HTML formatting.

Optional step: The new content is yours to edit as you like. You own the IP of all generated content, so you're free to use it however you like!

Done: the new content has been added to the last point in your existing content. In the example above it has been formatted into a clearer paeagraph and list. You can move it, if you wish for it to be at another insertion point.

Using AI co-pilot to generate an image into your learning content

Co-pilot can understand the context of your content item and, on request, generate an image from any text-based prompt. You can select any of the pre-defined models, or create your own (see later in this guide).

Step: Open the content editor for any item in your learning design (in this example we're using the Storyboard view)

Some example content to add an image to.

Step: To generate an image you must select some text, to guide the image prompt.

Selected text 'product analytics' to guide the co-pilot content generator.

Step: Select the Insert menu and then select an item from the Co-pilot image menu, for example 'Pencil sketch' (as shown)

Selecting the desired co-pilot prompt for our new image.

Step: Select the settings for your image such as the size or the visual style. Most of the image generation is guided by the prompt. When ready, select 'Generate'.

Tip: All images are compressed in file size (not dimensions) once generated.

Step: Review the generated image, if you like it you can select 'Add it' and it will be added into your content.

A newly generated image - based on our content and the chosen prompt.
Images added can be resized, moved and aligned into the content - to help them fit with the overall narrative.

Step: Resize and move the image by selecting the image and dragging one of the corner handles. Move the image by clicking and dragging it to a new location.

Select the image to enable the resize handles.

Optional step: Align the image by using the text alignment icons in the toolbar. In this example, we aligned it to the right.

Move and align the image to place it wherever you like.

Step: Right click and select Edit image to add / check the alt-tag data for your image

Alt-tags are added automatically from the prompt - but you can edit them to be more descriptive.

Get AI-generated suggestions, improvements and adjustments to your learning content

In this set of steps we will quickly and easily use the AI co-pilot to generate suggestions for how to revise and improve our content. The co-pilot is context-aware, so when we ask for a suggestion it it told where the content comes from, to make an informed suggestion.

Step: Open the content editor - in this example we're using the Storyboard view.

Step: Select some text that you wish to improve, or get an AI suggestion

Selecting some text will become the prompt for the AI co-pilot to suggest changes or improvements.

Step: Select Insert and then one of the options from the Co-pilot suggestion menu. In this example we will use 'Formalise tone'.

Step: Wait for the co-pilot to generate a suggestion. When it has generated, you can review and chose to 'Add it'. It will replace your previously selected content.

The suggested revised content is presented to you before you choose to accept or decline it.
The revised 'formalised tone' content has replaced the previous paragraph.

Tip: All changes are saved in the Log, you can always revert a change if you need to.

Done: You can now use the AI co-pilot to add text, images and suggestions directly into your learning content!
